They resemble real life and fictional characters that act as real people in the world. When choosing realistic fictional books, there are certain things to consider beforehand as students are exposed to reading. For example, does the speech and behavior of the character represent believable behaviors in the real world? Does the story contain more than one theme? Is the topic and subject matter of the story coincide with the modern world. This means that topics that young adults are having to deal with may be part of the evaluation process when reading realistic fictional books.
Reading realistic fictional books helps readers to understand and take comfort in knowing that the problems they are dealing with are not unique and they are not alone. It also helps them see the world from someone else point of view and how they are able to handle issues in their own lives.

Science fiction stories are partially true or fabricated laws or theories of science that are written to entertain the reader about possible future events. While choosing fantasy and science fiction books, one must consider that the character behaves in a consistent and believable way. Although the story is a fantasy science fiction, the same rules must be considered in the fantasy world as in the real world . When looking at the theme of the story, it must be universally understood by all as in real life. Science fiction books are considered to be books that have something for every reader.

In fact, this type of format book is read by wide range of ability levels and genders. The beauty to reading graphic novels is that they consist of a variety of elements that are preferred by many readers.

Adolescents should also have the opportunity to read a variety of text of their choosing.

They can help student who are struggling with meaning of the text by providing assistance for a successful outcome.
