Chapter 11: Realistic Fiction Realistic Fiction also know as contemporary and Modern Fiction are stories that could have happened to people and animals in real world setting.  They resemble real life and fictional characters that act as real people in the world. When choosing realistic fictional books, there are certain things to consider beforehand as students are exposed to reading.  For example, does the speech and behavior of the character represent believable behaviors in the real world? Does the story contain more than one theme? Is the topic and subject matter of the story coincide with the modern world. This means that topics that young adults are having to deal with may be part of the evaluation process when reading realistic fictional books.
